Almost READY

 Thanks for stopping by to check on our progress on the Great Loop. This is Cheryl writing today. Grady, the gray house/boat cat is now on board and getting adjusted to the new sites, smells and sounds. The plan is to depart the dock on Wednesday morning! Seems like we have been planning for a while and are almost ready to go. Tonight will be the first night sleeping on board. So far the boat is very well equipped and comfortable. Paul has done an excellent job of seeing that it is ready.

DAY 4 By now you may have gathered that our daily movements are controlled by not only our desire to move to the next location but by the tides and water levels in certain areas. Today was another of those days. Hell's Gate is the problem area this time. This meant another early departure. Those of you who know Paul know that the earlier the better is his favorite departure time. Those of you who know me know that is not my norm. Day 1- Jacksonville to Fernandina

  The plotter is ready. The course is loaded. We will be traveling via the ICW (Inter Coastal Waterway). The ICW is a series of rivers, streams and cut canals from Miami to Norfolk VA. We will encounter MANY bridges along the way. Some are tall enough that we simply go under them. Others we have to radio the bridge tender and have the bridge opened to allow passage. Some are on set times. Bridges can greatly affect the distance we travel each day. We started with the sun Our first bridge The conditions were perfect, no wind Another bridge.  Random photos of what we saw along the way.
