Day 16 - Beaufort, NC to Dowry Creek Marina, Belhaven, NC
An early start again today with 60 miles planned.
The fog was still floating in places.
The sun came out and burned the last of the fog off.
Views along the way
Calm winds make calm waters which makes easy traveling.
This is the Neuse River. And this is the way we dream of the Neuse River. Like many of the inland waters in these parts, it is relatively shallow. That means, when the wind is up it can generate a short, unpleasant chop. If the wind is from the north and really
blowing, it means its a good day to stay in port and make brownies.
Saw this pirate ship and thought it was amusing. It was marketed as a kids venue and even had a treasure chest over the side of the boat. I'm sure the kids were ecstatic when it was "discovered".
A fleet of shrimp boats.
And now you can say you've seen Hobucken, NC!
R.E. Mayo Brothers Seafood, the Hobucken Shrimp dock.
Cruisers welcome! ATM inside! And fresh shrimp!

Came along another dredging contractor. They were moving their equipment.
This is all one unit being moved at 4 mph.
Here is the lead tug working REALLY hard to pull all that stuff... at 4 mph.
Our marina for the night. They had a courtesy car so we used it to go on a grocery run. They also have a bar and restaurant so we enjoyed a cold one.
It was the day for pirate ships. This one has been a work in progress for some time.
