Day 31- Rock Hall, MD to Delaware City, DE
Moved from Maryland into Delaware today. Calm waters today. Yay!
We were definitely in working waters.
This tug was moving a barge of gravel. Loved how the piles held their shape.
The osprey continue to be abundant.
These houses were on the high falutin' side.
These park model (trailer houses) were right across the water on the Eastern Shore side.
We saw many wedding venues near the Bohemian River area.
Originally built to work in concert with the lighthouses at Concord Point and Pooles Island, Turkey Point Lighthouse commenced operation in 1833 from its lofty perch atop the high bluffs at the head of Chesapeake Bay. More information is available by clicking the blue link.
Docks for boaters to tie up to while you patronize their restaurants.
This is Chesapeake City.
Bridges within bridges.
This railroad bridge is called a lift bridge. It raises straight up to open or drops straight down to close.
Another double bridge picture.
It was cool and breezy today. I got cold every time I went out to take a picture, so I took the easy way and took this one through the window.
This freighter was actually underway, making good time, headed for sea.
Our home for the night, Delaware City Marina. You can see how narrow the channel is here. It is actually a portion of the original canal when it opened in 1829.
