Day 34- Atlantic City, NJ

DAY 34  May 20

Another day of waiting for the wind to settle down. So, you get a little history on Atlantic City. The city is prominently known as the "Las Vegas of the East Coast" and inspired the U.S. version of the board game Monopoly, which uses various Atlantic City street names and destinations in the game. New Jersey voters legalized casino gambling in Atlantic City in 1976, and the first casino opened two years later. We are staying in the newer part of town so we do not have easy access to the Boardwalk and the older, original part of town.

We did take a walk over to the Golden Nugget. Neither of us are gamblers so we observed the people gambling, the layout, the light fixtures, etc.

Typical setup. Showcase the car YOU can WIN!!

Being a fan of stained and blown glass I enjoyed the light fixtures. Not many people gambling. Must have something to do with it being a Monday?

The farther we went into the casino the smaller the light globes got. Pretty to look at. Since there was no one at the tables it was the only thing to look at.

After the casino we walked the perimeter of the marina. The sun felt good, but it was still chilly. The high all day was maybe 62 degrees.

The clouds hung around all afternoon. The top of this building was definitely in them.

More views of the marina.

The Coast Guard has a station in Atlantic City. In case you didn't know, the Air Force has Bases, the Army has Forts or Camps, the Marines have Camps or Stations and the Coast Guard has Stations.

This boat won the award for the prettiest lettering.

Still no nominees for 'weirdest boat names'.  The only one of note so far is "Sue Bob".  Not sure if it's a family of rednecks, or a lawyer.  As we see any, we will certainly share.

Finally getting sort of a pretty sunset.
