Day 38- Croton-on-Hudson, NY to Marlboro, NY
Paul woke up to fog and snapped this picture as it was lifting
(and, as I was waking up).

The Bowline Point Power Plant on Haverstraw Bay, Hudson River.
This is where the breadcrumbs come from.
Don't believe him for a second. It's actually PANCO Petroleum Co., a private, family owned fuel company in Stony Point, NY.
The trees have grown up around it so tall I could barely get a picture.
Many homes on the Hudson River.
Lots of commercial boats, barges, and cranes, too.
There are lots of power plants along the river. I think they designed this one
in honor of one of Madonna's old concert costumes.
Passenger trains ran frequently on the East side of the river.
Lots of bridges over the river.
Can you see the 4, count them FOUR, bridges in this picture?
Another passenger train rounding the corner by the base of the bridge.
Oh look, another passenger train! Lots of people must go from Albany to NYC.
Cute little waterfall.
Former Ladycliff College
Now part of the US Military academy at West Point.
This heap is a hotel, also mentioned later.
Military housing near West Point.
This is Dennemora, a high security prison in upstate New York. No, wait! It's the Boy's (and Girl's) School on the Hudson, otherwise known as West Point, or the US Military Academy. In many ways the same as the former, 4 years of incarceration followed by 5 years of indentured servitude.
Needless to say, but I'll say it anyway, "Beat Army"!
(Can you tell Paul was Navy?)
Fun fact, way back in the Revolutionary War, the guy in charge of this place offered to hand over the keys to the Brits, cementing himself in American history. Can you guess who?
(Answer at the end of the blog.)
Met thinks these tents are getting set up to help celebrate graduation, which happens tomorrow. Just like the Army to sleep in a tent,
when there was a good hotel just a few photos before.
More of West Point. The lettering on the middle of the roof says "Beat Airforce".
We stay between these red and green markers to be sure we are in the deep part of the channel. I think you would be wise to not get too close to this RED marker.
Here you can see that the Hudson gets narrow in places.
Check out the depth (in the lower left corner). Very deep for a river.
The freight trains run on the West side of the river.
Very long train, I stopped counting at 100 cars.
The brown thing at the left end of the dock? The remains of a boat!
Newburgh Brewing Company, a brewery, restaurant and bar in an old mill at Newburgh, NY. You can see a few of the company houses to the right.
We had company for a few hours today.
Doesn't look like he will fit under the bridge?!?!
No worries, he had lots of height to spare. Best looking barge and tug we've seen.
Wait, WHO is driving the boat??? Our buddy, auto-pilot!
This is where they get the "LOG" in "BLOG".
Newburgh Beacon Bridge
More power plants. The people of New York must use a lot of power.
Or, maybe there are just a lot of people?
Danskammer Generating Station, a natural gas power plant.
Look at those layers in the bluff.
Beautiful day on the water.
