Wow, it's already the first of June.
Today we had perfect weather for crossing Oneida Lake. We across in an easy couple of hours. That gave us lots of time to clean the boat, inside and out. After all the locks it was dirty.
The gulls are watching us leave Sylvan Beach to cross the lake.
The lake was flat as we left Sylvan Beach. Just the way Capt. Paul likes it.
Lake Oneida has a reputation if the wind is blowing hard, especially from the west, where the wind has 20 miles to build up the waves. To see it like this is a gift you can't refuse!
The fisherman were out in force.
So the fishin' seems to be good, but from what we could see, the catchin' may have been a disappointment. But, hey, they're out of the house, drinking beer and making up lies. Mission accomplished.
The banks were full of homes.
These photos were of sights after we had crossed the lake.
This house had "skirting" down to the water.
This link takes you to an interesting history about the Erie Canal and the lighthouses along the way. A man in debtor's prison wrote 14 essays about his difficulties of shipping flour and how the situation could be remedied. Those essays helped create the Erie Canal.
These folks have picket fences on their decks.

Lovely area.

Settled in for the evening.
Here in Brewerton for a few days for maintenance, R&R and replenishment. Although this is not physically strenuous boating by any stretch, moving every day does require attention at all times, locking requires concentration and at the end of the day you feel it. Its nice to take a day or so off like this to recharge. I estimated that we would put about 200 hours on the engine to make it this far and planned this stop a month ago. 200 hours is oil change time. We actually took 196 hours. Pretty good guess. I'm thinking that the next oil change will be in Michigan.
