Day 56- Burrits, ON lock 17 to Dows Lake, Ottawa, ON lock 9

Artsy-fartsy picture, just because I could.

Seeing more farms, right along the side of the canal.

Moo.

Bunches of wild flowers, like these, just pop up.

It was early, like 6:30AM, and only 50ish degrees and this guy came by. We couldn't figure who or what he was when we first saw him.

He said it wasn't bad out and away he went. That is a prone board he is on.

The neighbors get buzzed on the weekends.

Looks like a fun neighborhood.

I'm pretty sure this critter was not caught in the Rideau Canal.

Homes are getting closer together.

Now, THAT is a treehouse!!

I'm far from an expert tracker, but I'd say there were a lot of them and not too long ago...

The reflection made for an interesting picture. Jaws?

Is this Ontario or Myrtle Beach?

A lonely Locktender.  Who needs summer hires when its done with hydraulics?
One of only three on the canal.
Looks can be deceiving, this was a really friendly chap.

I'm sure he's following close behind in case she falls.

The Dragon Boat Club or the Rideau Canoe Club? Cool boats!

Saint John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Shrine

The ducks have babies too.

Aquamarine? Low Rider? Hmmmm? Check out the next video.

This machine shared a couple of locks with us.
He poked along at 3-4 knots with those paddlewheels.
Paul mostly idled between the locks so we didn't have to wait as long in the lock.
These guys keep the canal grasses from getting in our way.
The weed eater who followed us joined a smaller version.

My friend, Karen, joined us at the boat. She winters in Zihuatanejo where I do.

Another Zihua friend, Helen, was driving through Ottawa
so she also joined us at the boat. Small world.

The four of us enjoyed dinner together.

Poor Paul had to endure tales of Zihuatanejo.
From what I gathered from the conversation,
the wild life in Zihuatanejo is mostly cougars on the hunt.
