Day 69- Lock 11-12, Campbellford, ON to Peterborough, ON Lock 20
We were emotionally prepared to spend a whole day and a second night in beautiful downtown Hastings. But at first light it was pleasantly surprising to not hear any wave noise against the bow. The predicted wind had settled down early and it was relatively calm.
After a morning walk it was time to start making noises. Since we had a long run of 15 miles before any locks, we could leave at our leisure, which actually means NOW!
The captain is such a tirant!!
Did you look at the path on the map? We did a big "W" today.
We crossed Rice Lake today. Mostly open water with islands in the distance.
Spotted this fire lookout tower on one of the islands.
I'm sure kids love visiting this beach area.
These chairs obviously come in many colors.
The one lock of the day, a different style of gate crank. It makes your hair purple.
The lilies are blooming.
Mom said "Where will you be?"
Kids answer as they leave, "Hanging out on the old railway bridge."
Local fauna. This is a very slow, no wake zone...
Some of the longer term residents of Peterborough.
Little Lake at Peterborough.
Close up of Little Lake Fountain.
Pulling into the marina at Peterborough.
Took the bikes for a ride.
A preview of the excitement a couple of days from now.
Check back for all the details.
