Day 81 & 82- Wright Marina, Britt, ON to Killarney, ON
DAY 81 July 6
Lay day! Forecast was for rain and it didn't disappoint.
Good day to go to the mall, visit the museum, hang out at a sports bar. Just not here.
These were some serious kayakers, they even had laminated charts.
They didn't let a little rain stop them.
DAY 82 July 7

Just like motorcycling, why take the direct route when you can go the long way. The zig-zag you see on the chart takes us through the Collins Inlet. This area is where Champlain came down a river and first saw the great lakes. The finger dip and taste test confirmed that he had not found the way to China.
First thing in the morning, you could barely see across the marina. Within an hour it was clear blue skies. About halfway across the lake it came down again to about a mile and a half of visibility. About the time we needed to make a decision about turning into the narrows of Collins Inlet, voila!
The rocks are differently colored than before.
It's a beautiful channel.
One of the refreshing thing about this stretch, very few cottages and houses. Some, but not many. Behind us on the Georgian Bay, I was surprised to see that almost every rock had a house on it.
Is this graffiti?
Yep, we're going through there!
I did say there were some houses. I'm afraid we interrupted this gentleman in the midst of his morning ablutions. I didn't see him soon enough to slow down and gave him a 'wake up' call. He gave us a friendly wave and a comment on how he had to go to town and needed to look his best. A shave and a bath were in order.
Hey mister! There is bear behind you!!
The standard light house with slight enhancements.
Must have a decorator who lives nearby.
Killarney Light, home for the night!
First view of the Killarney Mountain Resort.
See the fog moving in?
The fog rolled in, the fog rolled out. Mostly, it stayed out.
There the fog goes.
Killarney Mountain Resort, our marina for the night. Popular spot for hikers, kayakers and a Conference Center (Centre, excuse me).
Check-in at the lighthouse.
The main lodge reminded me of Custer State Game Lodge at home in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
Very clear water here.
I've been called 'Scooter Trash' before, but this crosses the line.
The first time I've seen a seaplane ramp at a marina.
It was a busy place.
Amphibious Plane Taxies Out
Float Plane Take Off
Helicopter Lands
What might this boat with all the gulls be?
How Herbert's Fish and Chips supplies it's kitchen. The seagulls like 'em!
The walk bridge into the rest of Killarney.
Good night from Killarney, last stop on the Georgian Bay.
