Day 88 & 89- Gore Bay, ON and on to Meldrum Bay, ON
DAY 88 July 13 at Gore Bay
This first group of pictures were taken by Paul on his early morning walk.
Can you spot the Goose over in the marina?
Gore Bay came as a pleasant surprise. Having spent three nights in Little Current (pop 937), the 'biggest' town on the island, Gore Bay is smaller (pop 891).
The cruising guides did mention that there was a grocery store
and a hardware store and a marine supply place.
In addition to these essentials, we found a boardwalk that a ran a mile around the head of the bay, a lovely arts center with working artist's studios and a museum, a really nice craft brewery, a couple of restaurants that had full patronage of the visiting tourists, motorcycles groups, etc. To cap it off was the lovely craft chocolate store
where they roast their own beans. Yum!!
A split rail fence at the Split Rail Brewery!
An 'anonymous donor' (who everyone knows who it is) gave over a million bucks to the town to build the boardwalk and rebuild the marina. These wooden caissons full of stones are left-overs from the original marina and provided anchor points for the floating docks.

Honey, I shrunk the crew...
Today we moved from Gore Bay to Meldrum Bay.
Another light tower. Have to say I am looking
forward to the Michigan lighthouses.
forward to the Michigan lighthouses.
This was a miniature of the house on the same property.
These were the darkest purple lilies I have ever seen!
Sorry, no dial tone.
Also no weeds.
Also no weeds.
If you thought Gore Bay was small, Meldrum has it beat.
The sign lists absolutely everything here.
The Meldrum Bay Marina Centre.
