Day 92 & 93- Mackinaw City to Petoskey, MI
DAY 92 July 17 another day at Mackinaw City
What's up with this?
It's a convention, Paul, you weren't invited.

There's always a show off in every crowd...
If you say so. We didn't try our luck.
Oh, boy. Can you imagine that they actually have fudge shops here? What a surprise!
People pods, perhaps?
No tourist trap is complete without miniature golf and a zip line.
At least in Florida we have gators to spice it up.
They moved.
This is a statue honoring Phineas Fudge, founder and patron saint of the Mackinaw fudge industry that we see today. It is made entirely of fudge.
Not.
The clouds continued to build.
Any guesses? I doubt they are oil wells.
Then, there is the kite story. Those of you who saw the last blog saw some pictures of kites flying in the park at the marina. Well, one of them fell on the roof of the bandstand, got hung up and was abandoned by it's owner. I saw it on my evening walk, draped across the roof and hanging down almost to the ground.
Hmmm, I thought to myself. Maybe tomorrow morning,
I might go out there and see if I can snag it.
But, noooo! When I got back to the boat after my walk, guess what was on the salon table? Yup, the kite-copping kleptomaniac had already been out there.
A few minutes of mending about three broken strings and untangling everything and , voila! A new amusement for the crew!!
I was just picking up the litter I found after the band concert.

Here's a video of the kite for you to enjoy.
Kite flying was cut short by a quick and soaking rain storm, yes we got wet, but it ended in time to dry out the kite and be treated to this.
DAY 93 July 18
Off and around the corner to Little Traverse Bay!
Paul got up early and left. Under Big Mac at about sunrise.
The color was starting to build.
The White Shoal Lighthouse
You can stay at this lighthouse, or you could last year. It is being renovated in 2024 and will hopefully be ready for overnight guests again next year. Check it out here.
It is said to be both a "nautical gravestone" (because of the many wrecks in the vicinity)
and on the "most endangered list" of lighthouses. It is expected to crumble soon.
An easy travel day and now tucked into the marina at Petoskey, MI
