Day 146 - 148- Sept 9 - 11 Joliet, IL to Ottawa, IL to Peoria, IL

We left Joliet and traveled 37.6 miles down the river today to Ottawa.

Of course at sunrise. Beautiful.

Can you tell which end of the barge has been filled??

These are fuel tanker barges.

Cute little house boats? I don't think they move.

If you need bigger accommodations, these are around the corner.

Water lilies on steroids?

These must be the penthouse suites.

Rafted in a lock with our new best friends.  We meet new best friends every day on this trip.
These locks are so large they only have 3 places to tie up. With 4 pleasure boats the first 3 tie up and the next ones "raft" next to one of the attached boats by attaching to the attached boat. Say that 3 times!

Found these on the doors at the marina.

This tree is a "Time to go South" tree.

They do have some pretty sunsets here.

On the way from Ottawa to Peoria today.

A pretty morning on the river, a little sea smoke.

You can see that the river spends a fair bit of time at much higher levels than we are seeing today.

The Bald Eagles were out at the beach this morning. Looks like the mommas and babies leave the poppas alone first thing in the morning.

The common sight for the next 1000 miles.

This is farm country, lots of corn.

I think this will be a regular site, houses on legs.

More steel bridges.

Where we didn't stop, Henry Harbor, which uses an abandoned old lock for transient boaters to moor.

DAY 148   September 11

Sorry, no pictures, no stories.
We both got hit with a cold and hibernated for the day.
