Day 152-153- Sept 15-16 More Grafton, IL

 DAY 152-153
September 15-16

A  long day, about 16 miles, from Grafton to Alton.  The big news is, Alton is on the Mississippi River!  Entering the river was a non-event, no surging , raging current, no floating trees, no hordes of mega-tow barges.  Just an easy ride to a nice marina.

The blue arrow points at the Mississippi River and the red arrow points at the Illinois River which we have been traveling on.

The first thing we noticed is more debris in the water, but not huge debris.

How many years did it take to cut those into the bluff?

More duck blinds.

A little evidence of the eons that have passed.

Our Lady of the Rivers Shrine at Portage Des Sioux.

A tugboat with a spelling problem.

Power plants continue to be prolific along the rivers.

Finally saw some recreation along the river.

The marina at Alton was right by the bridge.

I caught these guys cleaning up after a swim. Made me giggle!

We will extend our stay here because of traffic at the marina in Paducah.  But, it's a nice place to hang out, get some much needed R&R.
... and haircuts!!
