Day 213-217- Nov 16-20 Panama City, FL to Carrabelle, FL

We had a real "work day", 7-5 no less, over 80 miles today. We went this far in hopes of being able to leave the next day and cross the gulf. No such luck.

The waterway is starting to resemble the ICW in Georgia.  But wait!  This far north in Florida IS basically Georgia!

Here's a little cream puff you can pick up for a song.
A few parts, some TLC and you can cruise the world!

Unless you prefer the comforts of home afloat...

Another fly-in...

Bubba Gump was here.

This picture puts it in perspective to the size of some of these shrimp boats.

A couple more at the marina.

Carrabelle, Florida is the center of the universe.
Check out the mileage on the top sign...

My morning walk was around 3.5 miles.  I circumnavigated the entire town.

Now, we've seen it all!

This was the signage inside the "police station".

Tricky Dick came here!!

Interesting piece of coral?

The research vessel "Thunder" is a long way from home.  Her home is Homer, Alaska.
The building to the left is the marina office.  This picture was taken from the boat.  From the boat to the office is a 1/4 mile walk.   Each way.

These guys were rebuilding the corner of the fuel dock. Apparently the last time this research vessel came in a bit to close and broke pilings and part of the dock.

See the sonar transducer on the left side of the boat? There was one on the right side too. That might have been what took out the deck.

Oops!

What you can't see in the photo above is the fixed dock.  That's because it is underwater.
Big tide assisted by big wind.

Now you can see the dock!

If you read the previous couple of posts you know that I was back in South Dakota for my Mom's 95th birthday. I have had several people ask me how it went... it went well. Mom was doing really well that day. She had a big smile for almost every picture. She was extremely worn out the next day, but said she had fun. She is wheelchair bound and has memory issues, but recognizes most everyone.

The 5 kids they had in 8 years!! Dad has been gone 5 years now.

8 of the 12 grandkids those five produced.

18 of 31 of the great grandchildren.

There were also spouses, significant others and more there.
It was a ROOM full of people!

  1. Love the family being there for mom! Watch out for those “square grouper” (pot bales) on you Gulf of Mexico run.
