Day 109-126 - Aug 3-Aug 20 More of Elmwood Marina, Traverse City, MI

DAY 109 & 126
August 3-20

I am BACK at the boat! I had been in South Dakota from August 2-19. The family was visited. The wedding dress was completed. The wedding performed.

Here are a few pictures from Traverse City and the Elmwood Township Marina area, where Paul and Grady have been patiently waiting. Snow Goose was cleaned, polished and buffed while I was gone. She looks great!

It was good seeing the marina again.

We went down the street for a sandwich and a beer. How can you pass up a beer named this? It was delicious and refreshing!

"If you don't behave, we're going to have you sent to Traverse City!!"  Thus was the common threat to unruly kids in Michigan, where there was one of those super scary insane asylums known as the "State Hospital".  Now being repurposed, the buildings really are magnificent, even though some of them still have bars on the windows.

The buildings contain shops, restaurants, offices, etc.

Now, it appears that some who might have been sent there 40 years ago
have moved back in.

The homeless community is camped in the trees leading to the grounds.

Downtown Traverse City, pretty buildings, nicely restored.

Pretty houses just blocks from the center of town and durable small businesses.
Directly across the street was this market.

This enterprising young man was roasting up hot dogs, brats and a variety of sausage type products on the grill. Of course we had to help support him!

OK, so here's the story.
When asked at CVS if I had a rewards account, we checked.  I didn't.
 Clerk: "Would you like one?"
Me: "Sure"
Clerk: "Your name?"
Me: "Hmmm"
Clerk:  "You can lie, it can be anything."
Me, seeing her nametag: "Amanda"
Clerk:  "Last name?"
Me: "Amanda"
Clerk: "Okay, Amanda Amanda, you now have an account."
Cheryl:  "Do you have another name tag so he doesn't forget?"
Clerk: "Sure.  I have another one, it's all yours."
Me: "Thanks Amanda!!"

Handicapped boat parking!

Hosing off dead bugs!  My favorite kind.

I walked the trail system every morning, some of the sights along the way.

This video shows the entire back yard with the waterwheel.
It backed up to the trail. Lovely.

I'm really glad they had this trail system to keep Paul occupied while I was gone. Tomorrow we continue the journey on the loop.
